Exchange Visits and the Staff Capacity Framework
What is it?
Exchange visits between peer professionals at headquarters and field offices led to the identification, documentation, and sharing of a series of common challenges and promising practices.
Why is it useful?
Understanding the systemic nature of staff capacity and sharing innovation will help us to recruit, retain, and develop better trained and more rapidly deployed staff.
During exchange visits between IWG agencies in 2005, human resources specialists and program line managers from the seven participating ECB agencies visited each others' headquarters and field offices to share their policies and procedures and witness how systems are implemented at regional and country levels. A series of promising practices were identified.
in Phase II of ECB, ECB consortia representatives also undertake exchange visits to learn from their peers in other countries. In 2010, a representative from the Bangladesh consortium visited Indonesia, to learn about the Indonesian experience with the joint needs assessment. In 2011, several exchanges are planned, including one between the Bolivia and the Indonesia consortia. Contact us to learn more.
