21 February 2013: The AIM Standing Team Experiment
In 2011, the ECB Project agencies created a new Accountability and Impact Measurement (AIM) Standing Team initiative designed to train national staff from multiple agencies to support accountability to disaster affected communities and find ways to implement accountability in a practical and sustainable ways across their own agency programs. The ECB Project’s Participatory Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) and Planning Project is an initiative that seeks to harmonize existing and new approaches to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It encourages humanitarian staff and community members to work together to identify community needs, recognize threats faced and prepare risk reduction measures in partnership. Read more

11 February 2013: Kenya Pre-election Simulation Tests Preparedness
As part of the Kenya Initial Rapid Assessment initiative (KIRA) the ECB Project agencies supported UNICEF, UNOCHA, the Assessment Capacities Project (ACAPS) and the World Food Programme (WFP), to deliver a successful simulation in Nairobi, Kenya, December 5–7, 2012 ahead of the March 2013 national elections. 29 January 2013: EFSL 48-hour assessment tool now available in English, French and Spanish
The increase in rapid-onset humanitarian emergencies has put pressure on those who need to make quick, well informed and effective decisions. In response, Oxfam, with the support of the ECB Project agencies, created an Emergency Food Security and Livelihoods (EFSL) ’48-hour assessment tool’, now available in English, French and Spanish. The purpose of the tool is to obtain a quick understanding of the EFSL situation within the first few days after a rapid-onset disaster so that humanitarian staff can make timely assessments that will inform the design of EFSL response programs. 23 January 2013: ECB Consortia Countries launch Toward Resilience: A Guide to Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation
