CBHA humanitarian competencies in Bolivia
Published on 16 May 2011
The CBHA humanitarian competencies development program – for which ECB is an implementing partner - took place in Bolivia over the last two weeks. The program consisted of a one week management and leadership workshop, followed by a course in core humanitarian competencies for frontline staff. Content for the courses was developed based on the common humanitarian competencies framework.
Participants, who were nominated by their agencies, came from members of the Bolivia consortium and their partners. The level of enthusiasm and engagement has been very high across both courses. The methodology of the courses is dynamic and interactive, and includes many simulated activities, group work, as well as individual reflection. The next steps of the program include coaching, conversations with managers, on-line training, group work, and a self-directed learning plan. The second face-to-face workshop will take place in August, and a learning event will be held at the end of the year. The 4-person facilitation team includes staff from several agencies, as well as ECB staff from the Bolivia consortium and the global project team
