    Latest AIM Standing Team Accountability Club Call discusses Financial Transparency: Highlights Online

    Accountability Club is a regular, open conference call hosted by the ECB Project’s Accountability and Impact Measurement (AIM) Standing Team. The Club brings together humanitarian professionals and accountability practitioner’s from both ECB and non-ECB organizations to discuss their learning, field experience and recommendations in the area of accountability to people and communities affected by emergencies.

    Previous meetings have covered a diverse range of topics in accountability including the October 2011 Humanitarian Exchange issue on accountability, the implementation of Joint Complaint Mechanisms (JCMs) and the development of effective Complaints and Response Mechanisms (CRMs). The latest call was the fourth to take place, and brought accountability, monitoring and evaluation colleagues together to discuss the issue of financial transparency during disaster responses.

    During the call, a number of participants - including Angela Rouse, CARE ECB Agency Manager and Accountability Standing Team member - shared their perspectives on financial transparency work in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Participants on the call represented a diverse range of organizations including CARE, Christian Aid, the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC), the ECB Project Team, Merlin, Oxfam, Save the Children, and World Vision.

    The Good Enough Guide to Assessments (GEGA) is being designed by the Assessment Capacities Project (ACAPS), using the ‘good enough’ approach, to produce a simple, practical handbook on needs assessments.  As part of the GEGA review process, three ECB Project consortia successfully held consultation workshops to provide feedback on the guide.
