Joint assessment, cooperation, coordination, accountability -- we should continue working together towards mastering these for the empowerment of our communities. Thanks again for the good work and for involving us in this process. All the best!

I am feeling good had participated in the 2 days ECB interactive workshop in Indonesia, at least I learned 2 kinds from this workshop which is the first is process of the discussion is very "interactive" as same with the tittle of this workshop and also providing opportunity to build network with the new people or organizations who attend this. the second is I learn more about the accountability even I already familiar with the GEG book which consist 5 key elements of accountability but I can also to measure how accountable we are through self assessment from the accountability from HFI (Indonesian humanitarian forum).

I've been so lucky to have participated in the ECB workshop for these two days, during which I have gained various new knowledge on disaster, i.e. DRR, accountability, JNA, as well as ECB itself, and last but not least, the new method used by facilitators during this event. I've also learned some lessons from numerous NGOs who have been doing disaster response programs in Indonesia, which made me realize that many NGOs actually have serious concern about disaster situation in Indonesia.
I'd like to thank ECB for inviting the Ministry of Social Affairs to this activity. I will communicate and inform the knowledge I've gained during these two days event to the Directorate that deals specifically with disaster situation (Directorate Social Aids for Disaster Victim/Bantuan Sosial Korban Bencana Alam). It is my hope that we can collaborate further (ECB and Indonesian Government) in the future. Thank you. See you soon.

This meeting was really interesting. The main outcomes are to enhance more and more collaborations among INGOs, NGOs, and all relevant stakeholders from all levels in order to respond in a more effective way after a disaster has affected communities. It encourage me to get involved in such initiatives especially in DRR/CCA issues.

ECB inter-active learning in Indonesia is a good session for ECB and non-ECB to share, learn , and discuss how we would like to move forward - especially in collaboration....so many good ideas! we should start work on that.

Dr. Berton Pandjaitan 16 November 2011 7:15 AM
ECB inter-active: presentation session on the role of international organziations and foreign non-governmental organizations in disaster management. The BNBP presented the government disaster management legislation law no. 24 2007.
Dr Berton suggests that good coordination is important in Indonesia so that INGOs are working with UNOCHA and national NGOs. Dr Berton suggests that we need to sit together and work together hand in hand to take shared responsibility for coordination of all the stakeholders in the humanitarian sector. That is not only the government's role, but we all need to work together.

The various arrangements made by the facilitators make the participants active. I'll share what I got from the workshop with my colleagues in CARE Indonesia and implement it myself!

First morning of the first ECB Interactive event here in Indonesia! Interesting panel discussion just held. Head of UNOCHA in Indonesia talked about the importance of the strategic relationship between ECB Agencies and UNOCHA in country. Also set out the challenge that we all need to get better at accountability and proving the impact of our actions! And that we need to coordinate our efforts better when working with the government. Great stuff! Looking forward to this afternoons sessions.....
